I composed these pieces is the fall of 1979, just after finishing my undergraduate studies. The "academic" idea behind the set was that each song would combine a tonal element with a serial element in a different way. However, the reason I still like them--and include them here--is that I think the songs are light-hearted and self-deprecating in the spirit of Shakespeare's text.
